Dance Like No One's Watching

Posted: 1/15/2009

When I need an out-of-mind experience, I give myself permission to dance. Just dance, no agenda, no rules, no judgment. My inner child requires me to get out of my thoughts and into my body more. In fact, she demands that I give her the joyful experience of being in a physical body on a very frequent basis! What this looks like is allowing myself to be moved by the music, whether it's playing on my iPod at home, at the Walgreens, grocery store, or wherever I am. I could dance like no one's watching if I allowed myself to... if I allowed myself to dance more... if I allowed myself the freedom, the courage to move my body freely... and so I could say "Yes" from now on if asked, "Are you out of your mind?" And I'll say, "Yes! Yes, I Am..." and keep dancing. I could see the little girl in me getting a big kick out of that. So I'm going to give it a shot, and if someone sees me dancing I'll pretend they're not watching. Is this not the game of a child? Pretending and such? Point taken. I'll exercise this wisdom in the upcoming weeks...
